Job Description

The Planning & Inventory Manager will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of planning, including demand, supply, deployment, and S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) for both internal and external production processes. This position will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and successful operation of our growing company, aligning business processes with strategic objectives.

 

This position will create and implement appropriate processes and data analysis tools necessary for the business units to maintain accurate control of the company's suppliers and manufacturing capabilities in a compliant manner. The position will work with Product Development, Quality, Marketing, Operations, and other cross-functional departments responsible for the management and application of manufacturing (supplier’s and in-house) to support the proper balance of inventory and capacity to ensure there are no supply related business interruptions while optimizing working capital.

 

Additionally, the Planning & Inventory Manager role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining processes and procedures to ensure accurate accounting of field and local inventory. This team member uses excellent communication and problem-solving skills to coordinate all aspects of inventory management, reconciliation, and reporting. The position will be responsible for similar controls to maintain accurate control of the company's internal kitting assembly, as well as the company’s product inventory.

 

The candidate must possess the ability to work cross-functionally to support rapid growth and continuous improvement. This position will interact with many functions and levels of the business.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage and optimize all planning activities including demand forecasting, supply planning, inventory control, and S&OP process.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Sales, Marketing, and Product Development) to accurately forecast demand.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers and internal production teams to ensure timely and efficient supply of materials.
  • Develop and maintain robust deployment strategies to optimize inventory levels and reduce excess and obsolete stock.
  • Lead the S&OP process, aligning it with the company’s strategic objectives and ensuring efficient execution.
  • Develop, measure, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supply chain planning and performance.
  • With the assistance of Supply Chain, Product Development and Quality, help identify new suppliers as needed for the compliant manufacture of components and finished goods.
  • Evaluate and implement Planning optimization strategies and projects
  • Create communication tools for easy access to key information needed to make business decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with the company quality system as it relates to Planning
  • Manage a team of planning and inventory professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Provide support, feedback and coaching to foster growth and development.
  • Development, implementation, and execution of field inventory audit program and daily management of the Inventory Management/Audit team members
  • Ensure thorough and accurate accounting of inventory during cycle counts (field, local, and vendor locations)
  • Thorough reconciliation and root causes analysis of inventory count variances

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field required.
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree preferred.
  • APICS Certification is a strong plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in planning, supply chain, or a related field.
