Job Description

As the Patient-Specific Design Engineer, you will be responsible for generating 3D CAD designs of patient-specific products from the initial patient need identified through to final manufacture and delivery. This position entails working with surgeons to determine patient needs and support high-quality production and inspection of the finished product. 

You will also support ongoing product development, process improvement, and automation projects to further the development of patient-specific devices, including 2D and 3D drawings, sharing technical and process expertise on project teams, creating technical documentation, etc.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Analyze CT scan data, and design patient-specific cut guides using image segmentation software and SOLIDWORKS for 2D and 3D modeling
  • Interact with surgeons to determine patient-specific needs for their case, and how best to deliver a patient-specific cut guide to meet their needs
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure high-quality and timely production and delivery of custom guides.  Perform quality checks as needed
  • Create pre-operative plans for surgeons to use in cases
  • Support software developers and project engineers as a point-of-contact.  Provide feedback on the development of automation software and process improvements
  • Assists in implementing process improvement strategies, optimizing current processes, and process scalability
  • Assist in assembling models, guides, manuals, and plans

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in mechanical design or biomedical engineering.
  • Two years of relevant mechanical design and manufacturing engineering experience is required.
  • Medical device development experience and/or internships preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate in Mechanical Design (CSWA) certification preferred
