We are currently recruiting for a Permanent Full-time Parks Operator. Under the direction of the Foreman, this position will be responsible for the overall maintenance duties of parks, outdoor recreation facilities, and walking trail systems, including assisting with snow and ice removal on trails and sidewalks. The Operator I – Parks will occasionally provide direction to seasonal staff and will assist other divisions as required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will have a grade 12 education plus 3-5 years of related experience working with weed and pest control, landscaping, parks, turf maintenance, snow and ice control, and outdoor ice maintenance: preferably in a municipal setting. An Alberta Environment Pesticide Applicator License is required. An Alberta Class 3 license with Q endorsement (Air Brakes) is considered an asset, as is your ability to operate heavy and light equipment. A working knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in performing routine maintenance, landscaping, and construction tasks will aid in an incumbent’s success in this role. The successful candidate must be willing to work weekend and evening overtime shifts as occasionally required and participate in the On-Call schedule on a rotational basis.
Additional Information
In accordance with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 955 Collective Agreement, this position is based on a 40-hour work week and offers a competitive hourly wage rate of $31.08 - $33.97 (plus an additional premium based on certification).
