Belonging to the TOMRA Recycling division, the business model of our new start-up venture TOMRA Feedstock is to buy mixed plastic waste from incinerators and operate own plastic grading / sorting plants that turn the mixed plastic into a sellable feedstock stream for recyclers.
Job Description
We are looking for a Technology & Innovation Manager (m/f/d) within TOMRA Recycling / Feedstock who will ensure that our plastic grading / sorting plants are operated by cutting edge technology and innovates processes constantly.
Our new Technology & Innovation Manager (m/f/d) will work together with the rest of the team, to frequently design new material processing concepts and commercialize the recycling of waste streams, that would otherwise go to incineration. A profound understanding of the specifics of plastic waste and its circularity is therefore crucial, along with feeling comfortable at waste processing plants and being in contact with technology partners to bring the concepts into life.
The Position requires readiness to travel of approximately 30%, having the ability to work remotely the rest of the time.
Responsibilities of the Technology & Innovation Manager (m/f/d):
Designing & engineering of material processing concepts for pre-sorting & splitting plants
Developing new potential recycling applications and making proposals for commercializing new streams
Testing and evaluation of new equipment & technology solutions
Successfully leading contract negotiations to secure best equipment at best price
Consulting in- and externally with regards to technical expertise
Evaluating processed materials incl. chemical analysis
Qualifications
5+ years of working experience in a similar role in technical consulting, preferably in a sorting / grading plant
Profound understanding of recycling processes and specifics of plastic waste
Strong communication skills, being able to make complex technical processes understandable to non-technical stakeholders and adapting per target group, being fluent in English with German and / or another European language as a plus
Creative and innovative personality, thinking outside of the box to develop new approaches to circularity
Educational background
A technical university degree, preferably in mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, process engineering or waste management
Additional business / commercial knowledge being a plus
Other skills / abilities
Thinking along and completing assigned tasks independently
Solution-oriented team player with intercultural competence
High mobility, readiness to travel to plants and business partners on a frequent basis
