Civil Project Engineer II/III - Stormwater

Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer II/III to join our Stormwater Management Group in our Raleigh, North Carolina office location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

· Provide engineering design of stormwater practices such as stormwater control measures (SCMs); best management practices (BMPs); low impact development (LID) solutions; dams, stream repair/restoration; urban retrofit alternatives; watershed modeling; and other stormwater infrastructure related projects.

· Complete stormwater engineering calculations — including peak flow, detention/retention volume, and water quality volume calculations — using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilize computers in order to solve problems.

· Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and/or PCSWMM modeling, to investigate storm drainage issues and support stormwater management designs.

· Complete field observation, erosion and sediment control inspection, SCM maintenance inspection, and data collection duties as directed.

· Prepare construction documents for stormwater projects including plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents.

· Conduct background research on technical issues and prepare SWPPPs, watershed management plans, and other clear reports and memorandums to convey project results to our clients.

· Support MS4 and NPDES Construction General Permit compliance and coordinate stormwater permitting with regulatory agencies as directed.

· Communicate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff.

 

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

· A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent engineering degree.

· Three plus years of experience in Stormwater civil engineering, including stormwater management design, drainage analysis, and/or erosion and sediment control.

· EIT preferred.

· Working knowledge of CADD and or civil 3D software is required. (Civil 3D preferred) Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, or PCSWMM is a plus.

· Familiarity with MS4, NPDES, and North Carolina stormwater regulations and permitting processes.

· Working knowledge of erosion and sediment control principles and applicable state E&S design standards.

· Must be dependable, responsible, and have good written/verbal communication skills.
