Job Description
Timmons Group is currently seeking an Electrical Designer to join our Power Engineering & System Planning Group located in our Charlotte, NC office location. The successful candidate will be responsible for design support to multiple design teams involved with the conceptual, preliminary and final design of transmission line projects, 4 kV through 500 kV.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- Preparing complete drawings of structures, layouts, facilities or general arrangements including section and detail views and profiles in a manner to provide clear and concise representation of facilities
- Preparing electrical single lines, AC & DC schematics and wiring drawings
- Preparation of project drawings through preliminary selection of alternatives, layouts and arrangements
- Demonstrating personal development of technical knowledge through interface with the engineering departments in the execution and review of project assignments
- Acquiring and maintaining advanced skill levels through the progression of software releases and upgrades
- Assisting in the training and advancement of skills for other, less -experienced designing and drafting department personnel
Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- Associates degree or certificate of completion from an accredited drafting program
- Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD
- Self-motivated to research assigned projects, new drafting techniques and increase job related knowledge to further career
- Perform drafting tasks at a rate set by management
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Works effectively in a team environment
- Excellent organizational skills
- Review of own work for zero error output
- Knowledge and use of IEEE, ANSI and NSEC Standards, and familiar with north American industry practices will be an asset
- Proven ability to read and understand engineering drawings of all disciplines
