Job Description
You will have the responsibility to report to management regarding any schedule discrepancies or capacity issues daily and prepare management reports as required, while communicating and coordinating with the production supervisors to ensure schedule adherence.
More of your responsibilities will include:
- Collecting inputs for draft schedule window which includes all approved ad hoc notifications, newly released production and production services strategies, inputs to the execution schedule (specified date of work, duration of work and availability of resources)
- Allocate scheduled start dates and identify critical issues based on execution schedule requirements and experience
- Defining tasks start times that fit the completion window
- Confirming and allocating equipment. Workplace access time, labour, spares and equipment availability
- Aligning and separating tasks that can be completed together (synergies) using the tasks conditions and constraints as guidance as well as sequencing tasks that have dependencies
- Reviewing the task status reports daily, schedule newly approved work and tracking upcoming work
- Keeping an eye on Resource Status Report (RSR) to track material and spares deliveries, and reschedule tasks should there be any items that will not be delivered before execution time
- Review the Task Status Report TSR) on a daily basis to assist in prioritizing the planned work and to track upcoming work
- Working collaterally across departments and supporting the work management process by scheduling approved work before required date
- Ensuring that all scheduled activities are aligned to the work management principles
- Liaising with relevant personnel responsible for the execution of activities on the schedule
- Obtaining decisions and agreements from relevant and affected parties
- Ensuring effective Management Routines and Engagement: Ensure that daily engagement is done with the supervisors / FLM with regards to the execution schedule integrity, schedule performance, risks and optimization opportunities, and escalate identified schedule risks
- Coordinating and facilitating weekly draft schedule meetings and integrated schedule reviews meetings
- Ensuring that these meetings are attended to by necessary people
- Present the previous week Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), i.e. Schedule compliance, schedule work, and urgent work
- Adherence to accountabilities stipulated in the various management routines
- Facilitate, demonstrate, and coach the use of SAP, WM System, Measurement Work Management tools and WEP tools for site personnel
- Managing performance and team health of reportees; planners, RC, RCA, Clerks (OM Assistants).
- Participation in WM assurance reviews when selected
Qualifications
- BTech / BEng / BSc Degree in Engineering/ Mining
- Prior training in data processing Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP), WEP and Prometheus
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in mining and engineering
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a management role
- Knowledge of mine scheduling
- Project planning experience would be advantageous
- Strong track record of experience in the Work Management component of the Business Process (Operating Model)
- In-depth experience in production and production support
- Computer Skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and Power BI
- Presentation and report writing skills
- Project planning experience would be advantageous
Additional Information
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mine Health and Safety Act, Environmental Legislation, and the Minerals Act
- A solid understanding of the Operational value chain in Underground/Opencast Coal Operations
- Generic knowledge of the different disciplines in the Mining Industry
- Good understanding of Supply Chain systems, procedures & workable knowledge of the relevant SAP modules
