Job Description

This position assists in the managing of all aspects of the dietary department.

Objective: keeping the Dietary Manager Informed of any problems relating to the dietary department and relieving the Dietary Manager on days off.

Essential Functions:

1.      Manage dietary department in the absence of the dietary manager.
2.      Adjust and revise employee work schedules as necessary in the absence of the dietary manager.
3.      Complete initial and follow-up dietary assessments by reviewing the resident's medical history and conferring with nursing personnel and ensure resident safety.
4.      Participate in resident care meetings such as health care planning, safety, infection control, department head staff, wound and weight, and premier dining.
5.      Procure necessary food and supplies by using Miller's Merry Manor approved vendors and} completing a weekly inventory.
6.      Perform all other duties as requested by the dietary manager.
7.      Attend all mandated meetings and inservices unless otherwise excused. Complete all Electronic education as required,

Qualifications

- CDM preferred

- Previous management experience required with food ordering, sanitation and scheduling

1.      High school diploma or equivalent.
2.      One year experience in hospital or extended care facility,
3.      Currently enrolled in or completed an approved food service management course.
4.      Working knowledge of food sanitation service, food and labor laws, housekeeping and accepted food service techniques,
5.      Preference of being familiar with principles of nutrition, preparation of quality food, high standards of food service and large scale purchase and preparation of food,
6.      Ability to pass a physical examination upon employment.
