This role is responsible for global cost accounting and inventory-related activities outside of manufactured cost. This role owns inventory valuation, landed cost, freight, quality-related costs, intercompany transactions, cycle count accounting, close, reporting, and related controls across commercial entities, logistics partners, and distribution flows. The role helps ensure the accuracy and integrity of product costs, cost of goods sold, gross margin, and inventory results, while providing visibility into cost drivers and supporting effective financial controls and decision-making.

  • Supports the valuation of global inventory, landed cost, cost of goods sold, cycle count activity, quality costs, intercompany activity, and related controls.
  • Partner with logistics, procurement, FP&A, inventory control, and quality teams to connect inventory movement, cycle count activity, quality costs, and selling activity to accurate financial results.
  • Support close execution, issue resolution, audit readiness, and process improvement while escalating material risks, cost changes, or margin impacts to the Director.

This position will be based at our West Los Angeles, CA office. We work a hybrid schedule with an in-office requirement Monday-Wednesday and the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.

Job Description

Standard Cost Management

  • Maintain and support selling entity standard cost processes, including item costing, ocean freight, local freight, intercompany markups, drayage, and tariffs.
  • Refresh standard cost assumptions periodically and review monthly standard cost comparisons for consistency, missing costs, and discrepancies across global inventory locations.
  • Maintain cost support, approvals, effective dates, and reconciliations consistent with reporting and control expectations.

Inventory Accounting and Valuation

  • Reconcile inventory valuation for finished goods, in-transit inventory, third-party warehouse inventory, and related selling entity inventory categories.
  • Reconcile selling entity inventory activity to the general ledger, investigate receipt, shipment, transfer, cycle count, and costing variances, and recommend timely corrective entries.
  • Assist with tariffs in inventory, intercompany markup eliminations, reserve calculations, third-party warehouse cycle counts, physical inventories, and quality-related adjustments.
  • Compile ad-hoc analysis as needed by accounting leadership.

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Lead the Oracle OPM inventory close process, including preliminary reviews before final closure.
  • Analyze and prepare journal entries, accruals, and reclasses for special events and marketing products, intercompany purchase price versus standard cost variances, and selling entity costs.
  • Calculate ending inventory revaluations, prepare entries, and review with the Director before posting.
  • Support the consolidated inventory view and intercompany elimination entries in FCCS.
  • Calculate management reporting product Cost of Sales based on customer shipments, standard costing, ocean freight, and manufacturing cost variances held in inventory.
  • Provide concise reporting and explanations to the Director, FP&A, logistics, quality, and business leaders on cost, inventory, freight, COGS, quality cost, and margin results.

Process Improvement and Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Support the Director in strengthening cost accounting processes, close routines, reporting templates, reconciliations, and control documentation.
  • Help standardize recurring analyses and reporting definitions to improve consistency, scalability, and user understanding.
  • Identify reporting efficiencies and process improvements to increase accuracy, transparency, and efficiency.
  • Communicate clearly with finance and non-finance partners, manage priorities independently, and escalate significant risks, delays, or unresolved issues.
  • Support FP&A with budget, outlook, and ad-hoc request preparation.

Master Data, Systems, and Data Integrity

  • Review ERP data that affects selling entity costing and inventory valuation, including item attributes, inventory locations, transfer pricing, freight terms, receipt and shipment activity, and transaction coding.
  • Support exception reporting, testing, data cleanup, and system improvements related to costing, inventory accounting, landed cost, intercompany activity, and financial reporting.
  • Build repeatable Excel and reporting analyses that improve accuracy, transparency, and efficiency.

Controls, Compliance, and Audit Support

  • Perform work in accordance with U.S. GAAP, internal policies, close procedures, and cost accounting control requirements.
  • Maintain documentation, reconciliations, calculation support, approvals, and evidence needed for management review and audit support.
  • Identify process or control gaps and support practical remediation under the direction of accounting leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Five years of progressive cost-accounting experience, preferably in an inventory-intensive, distribution, logistics, or multi-entity environment.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Experience in a multi-entity or multinational organization, including exposure to intercompany inventory flows, inventory in transit, transfer pricing concepts, and cross-entity reconciliations.
  • Strong working knowledge of inventory valuation, landed cost, freight accruals, cycle count adjustments, quality cost analysis, COGS, gross margin, account reconciliations, and financial close processes.
  • Experience using an ERP system such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, or a comparable platform, including the ability to trace transactions from operational activity through financial reporting.
  • Experience partnering with FP&A, commercial finance, supply chain, procurement, logistics, warehouse, quality, and customer-facing business teams.
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations, cost-module enhancements, reporting automation, finance transformation initiatives, or improvements to cost-accounting processes and controls.
  • Advanced Excel capability, including organizing and reconciling large datasets, building repeatable analyses, and applying appropriate checks for completeness and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a developing or process-light environment.
  • Demonstrated ownership and accountability, business partnership, continuous improvement, adaptability, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.

Pay Range: $95,000-$120,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
