Summary of Position
The Safety & Security Specialist is responsible for protecting Wonderful Orchards' employees, property, equipment, facilities, and agricultural assets while supporting a strong safety culture across field, shop, warehouse, and ranch operations. This position combines safety oversight, incident response, theft prevention, security patrol, and compliance support. The role requires strong observational skills, sound judgment, professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently in a rural agricultural environment while building effective relationships across all levels and functions.
This position reports to the Sr. Safety Manager. This is an overnight role and may include weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational needs.
Duties & Responsibilities
Functions include but are not limited to the following. Must be able to move freely between tasks depending on workload, season, etc.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conduct scheduled patrols of orchards, ranches, equipment yards, warehouses, shops, and company facilities to prevent or detect intrusion, protect property, preserve order, and identify safety concerns.
- Monitor for unauthorized persons, suspicious activity, theft, vandalism, trespassing, property damage, altercations, disturbances, and security alarm activity.

- Monitor and respond to security camera notifications, alarms, and reported activity.
- Maintain theft database and dashboard; evaluate theft incidents, determine appropriate response level, and recommend controls and preventative measures.
- Assist with investigations involving property loss, equipment damage, policy violations, safety incidents, or suspicious activity; coordinate with local law enforcement, fire departments, emergency responders, and internal leadership when needed.
- Respond to emergencies including accidents, injuries, equipment incidents, fires, and security concerns; assist Operations in the transport of injured employees to medical offices as directed.
- Observe work activities, report safety observations, identify safety gaps and opportunities, and provide suggestions for process improvement.
- Conduct safety, security, theft prevention, and environmental compliance assessments; inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, practices, gates, fences, and systems for compliance and exposure reduction.
- Promote compliance with company safety policies, security procedures, and applicable OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and environmental requirements.
- Coach managers, supervisors, employees, contractors, and visitors on proper safety and security procedures.
- Conduct or support English and Spanish safety training, theft prevention training, CPR/First Aid training, tailgate meetings, and other safety-related communications as needed.
- Communicate safety and security matters using email, technology devices, reports, meetings, bulletin boards, and other company communication channels.
- Write clear and detailed reports documenting patrols, observations, investigations, incidents, disturbances, corrective actions, and follow-up items.
- Maintain confidentiality while demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a positive image in all interactions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in Occupational Health, Business Administration, Human Resources, Criminal Justice, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in safety, security, law enforcement, military, loss prevention, agriculture, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working in agricultural, field, warehouse, shop, or rural property environments preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain.
SPECIFIC KNOWELDGE, AND SKILLS:
- Strong skills developing relationships across all levels and functions.
- Knowledgeable in the application of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Experience administering personnel policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing; strong oral comprehension and oral expression skills.
- Strong problem sensitivity: able to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong and escalate appropriately.
- Excellent observation, report-writing, investigation, and documentation skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, solve problems, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work well in a team setting and collaborate with Operations, HR, Safety, law enforcement, and emergency responders.
- Proficiency in computer usage, email, and MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must possess a valid California driver license and have a satisfactory driving record

California BSIS Guard Card
Pay Range: $75,000 - $95,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience
