The Site Superintendent serves as the on-site representative of the Project Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day coordination, supervision, and oversight of subcontractors and site activities. This role acts as the “boots on the ground” to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and according to plans, specifications, and schedule. The Site Superintendent also performs light maintenance tasks and coordinates service technicians as needed to maintain site functionality.
The ideal candidate is a composed, professional field leader who communicates clearly, respectfully, and diplomatically with subcontractors, clients, inspectors, and team members. This individual represents the company on-site and must demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and tact in all interactions.
Job Description
On-Site Project Coordination
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractor activities to ensure alignment with project schedule and scope.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Identify and proactively resolve field issues in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Maintain daily communication with the Project Manager regarding site progress, issues, and schedule updates.
- Conduct regular site walks and document progress with reports and photos.
Professional Communication & Representation
- Communicate expectations clearly and respectfully to subcontractors and vendors.
- Address conflicts or performance concerns with tact, discretion, and firmness when necessary.
- Maintain composure in high-pressure situations and model professional behavior.
- Represent the company with courtesy, integrity, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Foster a collaborative and respectful job site culture.
- Ensure all written and verbal communication reflects professionalism and clarity.
Scheduling & Logistics
- Assist in short-term scheduling and sequencing of subcontractors.
- Ensure timely delivery and proper storage of materials.
- Coordinate inspections and required approvals.
- Monitor site cleanliness and enforce organization standards.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and enforce job site safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety meetings and ensure subcontractor compliance with OSHA and company standards.
- Maintain proper site documentation, permits, and compliance records.
Light Maintenance & Facility Support
- Perform minor maintenance tasks as needed (e.g., changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, minor touch-ups).
- Coordinate third-party service technicians for repairs, equipment servicing, or specialty work.
- Troubleshoot minor site-related issues to maintain operational continuity.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in construction site supervision or related field experience.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, trades, and sequencing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proactive problem-solver with attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) preferred.
- OSHA certification preferred.
- Ability to perform light physical tasks and walk job sites regularly.
Pay Range: $88,000-95,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
