Job Description

Wonderful Orchards is seeking a GIS Analyst with strong imagery analysis skills to support our Shafter, Ca corporate agricultural operations. The GIS Analyst will support projects by analyzing and interpreting spatial and remote sensing data to produce meaningful visualizations and actionable insights. The role requires expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and image analysis tools to derive solutions for projects ranging from land-use and water planning to environmental monitoring. Work will be conducted with a variety of operational, research and development, and administrative departments across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced spatial analysis using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Process and analyze remote sensing imagery (satellite, aerial, and drone) to identify patterns, changes, and anomalies.
  • Generate and maintain GIS datasets, maps, and reports to support project goals.
  • Conduct image classification, feature extraction, and change detection using tools such as ArcGIS Image Analyst, ENVI, or similar software.
  • Develop scripts or workflows to automate geospatial processes (e.g., Python, ArcPy, R, or other relevant tools).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret project requirements and deliver geospatial solutions.
  • Assist with the integration of geospatial data into web platforms, dashboards, and reports.
  • Ensure data quality and accuracy through QA/QC procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, or related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 4+ years of experience working in GIS and remote sensing/image analysis.
  • Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, QGIS) and remote sensing tools (e.g., ENVI, ERDAS IMAGINE, ArcGIS Image Analyst).
  • Strong understanding of remote sensing principles, including multispectral, hyperspectral imagery.
  • Experience with image classification methods (supervised/unsupervised), feature extraction, and NDVI/vegetation analysis.
  • Knowledge of scripting/programming languages for geospatial automation (e.g., Python, ArcPy, GDAL).
  • Ability to work with various spatial data formats (vector, raster) and coordinate systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with UAV/drone imagery.
  • Part 107 Commercial drone pilot license.

Pay Range: $100,000 - $120,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
