Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to work with our Field & Research teams at Suterra as an Insect Rearing Technician in Shafter, CA! This seasonal, part-time position in will span 4-6 months, with the possibility of extension. You will play an integral role in supporting various laboratory tasks and maintaining insect colonies in a greenhouse environment.
Job Details:
- Flexible schedule: 20 hours per week, with on-site work required 2-3 days per week
- Hourly pay rate: $22- $25/hr dependent on experience
- Potential for contract extension based on performance and project needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with maintaining insect rearing environments, ensuring optimal conditions for colony growth and health
- Perform routine insect tracking, data entry, and record keeping
- Support general lab operations and contribute to ongoing research efforts related to insect rearing
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Ability to work 20 hours per week on-site in Shafter, CA
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 15 lbs.
- Interest in environmental sustainability, entomology, or related fields is preferred
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a passion for hands-on research
