We currently have a great opportunity for the position of Welder, who will be responsible for undertaking welding works for Suva transport team as assigned by their superior/ Foreman.  This role will be reporting to the Foreman and will be based in Waubay, Suva Transport Yard.

Job Description

  • Work closely with transport team and provide support in areas of welding.
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
  • Ensure the working station is hazardous free.
  • Other required tasks in line with role as applicable.

Qualifications

  • At a minimum, a Trade Certificate in Welding or related discipline in the areas of welding
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Must have experience in Mig and Arc welding works.
  • Good attitude is towards work and self-development.
  • Reliability and honesty with work and ethical about practices
  • Punctuality and can work extra hours when required.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office knowledge and skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of handling multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work either independently or collaboratively as needed.
