Wonderful Strategy Group (WSG) partners directly with executive leaders across all businesses to solve their most pressing strategic issues and deliver high-impact results for the company and the businesses in its portfolio. A sizeable team with 25+ individuals primarily comprised of alumni from top management consulting firms, the team is afforded the opportunity to directly drive business growth by leading direction-setting strategy and acquisition initiatives, work side-by-side with operational leaders and be a co-decision maker on improvements. Associate Managers work alongside smart, savvy, and high-performing managers and directors (from both traditional management consulting as well as agriculture backgrounds) solving our clients’ most pressing strategic issues to deliver high-impact results across four regional businesses. Job Description

What does The Strategy Group do?

  • Work with existing operating companies to improve performance both through new growth initiatives and efficiency/cost reduction actions. These include a broad set of projects from M&A due diligence and international expansion to plant floor operations effectiveness and improvement in core operating processes.
  • Facilitate new business development at holding company level, including market analysis, product development, acquisition screening, due diligence, and post-acquisition integration.

What does an Associate Manager do?

  • Provide thought leadership in developing practical solutions to complex analytical problems
  • Interface directly with operating company senior management
  • Act as a driving force behind critical strategic, operational, and organizational initiatives
  • Form strong partnerships with business unit leaders
  • Position designed to ideally lead to placement within an operating company
  • This position requires work in the California San Joaquin Valley (Kern, Kings, Tulare, and Fresno Counties)

Qualifications

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

  • BA/BS required, MBA or MS in Engineering, Agriculture, Applied Economics or related field highly preferred
  • Minimum four years total work experience in management consulting, operations, investment banking, private equity, or equivalent leadership development positions
  • Demonstrated interest in the agriculture and/or food processing industry
  • Superior problem solving and analytical skills (both quantitative and qualitative)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated individual and able to achieve high impact in an unstructured environment
  • Demonstrated passion for making a difference
