Job Description
Part of our Sourcing Hardgoods team, as Sourcing Lead, you’ll partner and work collaboratively with our wider Merchandise (Buying and wider Sourcing teams offshore) to execute end-to-end sourcing activities that support and deliver the merchandise strategy.
This role is pivotal, commercial and a key in developing and delivering on our sourcing deliverables and strategies across our Home division – covering a combination of Home Textiles and wider areas of Home including Kitchen and Dining, Furniture, Appliances, Gardening and Hardware.
The role
- Implement sourcing strategies to deliver merchandise objectives, while balancing cost efficiency, product quality, and sustainability targets.
- Operate in accordance with the approved Merchandise/Sourcing framework to ensure consistent processes, accountability, and alignment across cross-functional teams.
- Partner with Merchandise, Quality, and offshore sourcing teams to ensure clear communication and alignment across all sourcing activities.
- Manage the end-to-end sourcing lifecycle for offshore private-label products—from briefing through to order placement—ensuring disciplined critical path performance.
- Partner Heads of Merchandise departments to develop and manage a structured schedule of category tenders.
- Execute sourcing activities in line with the defined category segmentation (“light-touch” vs. higher-oversight).
- Build strong supplier relationships and lead negotiations, including supporting supply base consolidation to optimise cost and product outcomes.
- Proactively gather and share global market insights and international trends to inform sourcing decisions and strengthen category performance.
Qualifications
You have a good understanding and knowledge of sourcing capabilities and fundamentals to problem solve and mitigate potential challenges that could arise. A self-starter and highly collaborative in your approach, communication, influencing, and stakeholder management are your fortes as you manage the everyday working relationships and critical paths between the buying, design and quality teams and can translate this through to our sourcing and supplier networks.
On our wishlist:
- Direct sourcing background/experience with the interest and ability to execute sourcing fundamentals across a wide variety of Home categories
- Buying/product experience within this space is beneficial but not essential
- Familiar with product development, product manufacturing and knowledge of trends and technology
- Flexible to pivot across light touch and high involvement work, process driven and focused on providing results and solutions for our customers.
- Effective negotiation and communication skills plus management of critical paths
