Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

As the Faculty continues to grow, we are seeking an ambitious, collegial, and research-active Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Financial Accounting to join the Business School's Accounting and Finance Department.

We are seeking scholars with expertise in financial accounting who will contribute to excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching intermediate and advanced financial accounting at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with expertise in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). We also welcome applicants with expertise in auditing and assurance, including the application of professional judgement and professional scepticism in the audit of financial statements.

In addition to growing your academic profile and reputation, you will also be committed to shaping and delivering an exceptional learning experience for students, contributing to an innovative teaching environment using a variety of methods.

We are particularly interested in researchers whose work explores areas including strategic disclosures, regulatory enforcement and compliance, ESG measurement and disclosure, investor relations, the interpretation and enforcement of accounting and auditing standards, and auditing and assurance.

All candidates will bring the potential to contribute service and citizenship within and beyond the University, as well as to actively participate in Department, Faculty and University committees and activities.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) permanent position (subject to continuation).

Remuneration depends on experience and achievements, and will be aligned with our Academic Standards policy. It will be within the following ranges:

Lecturer (L): NZ$99,788 - NZ$119,204
Senior Lecturer (SL): NZ$126,863 - NZ$158,904

He kōrero mōu | About you

You will be a collegial academic with excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate your ideas and future research plans.

You will hold a PhD in Financial Accounting or a related discipline (or be nearing completion), along with:

Potential (L) or proven (SL/AP) track record of:

• successfully delivering Under- and Postgraduate courses
• publications in top-ranked journals in relevant disciplines (e.g., ABDC A* or A-ranked or AJG 4*, 4 or 3-ranked journals)
• attracting funding from internal and external reputable funding schemes
• designing curriculum (part or entire course/programme)
• successfully supervising PhD and Masters students to completion in a relevant discipline.
