Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We seek a person who has a strong biological / science educational background and preferably recent clinical experience.

The successful candidate will join a well-established and supportive post-graduate academic team delivering on-line teaching modules. Activities include managing and marking assessments (for a large biological and clinical science online course) and supporting students (particularly our Māori and Pacific students). The School of Nursing is productive and innovative and strives to provide the most relevant and up-to-date nursing education possible for its students.

There is an opportunity for the right candidate to complete a PhD on a new research project involving women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) led by experienced academic researchers examining the follow-up and long-term health outcomes for these women.

This is a part-time, fixed term position until December 2025. The salary range for this role is between $95,000 - $125,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have

• Clinical experience in primary or secondary health care across diverse populations and be passionate about improving health outcomes for women who develop GDM.
• A relevant biological / science / clinical undergraduate or postgraduate degree that will enable you to teach biological sciences at a post graduate level.
• A post graduate degree qualification that allows direct admission to an UoA PhD degree programme.
• Teaching experience especially in diabetes (in an educational or clinical setting) would be helpful.
