Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

The Department of Accounting & Finance seeks to strengthen its position in the area of Finance and is seeking two Lecturers to join its vibrant team. The roles’ core responsibilities are to conduct research-informed teaching of undergraduate, postgraduate and post-experience courses (including the new Master of Applied Finance) as well as a strong focus on research activities.

Please note these are both permanent, full time (40hours per week) positions with a salary range of $86,979- $103,904 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

The Department of Accounting & Finance is one of the largest in the University of Auckland. It has a strong research and teaching culture. Recently, it was ranked 46th in the world in the most recent QS Top Universities Ranking Survey 2021 for the subject discipline of accounting and finance, and it was the highest ranked accounting and finance department in New Zealand in the latest Performance Based Research Funding assessment.

He kōrero mōu | About you

  • The successful appointee will have a PhD (or be near completion), with demonstrated excellence in research and a commitment to high quality research-informed teaching.
  • You will have a research program that complements and builds upon existing areas of strength within the Department’s Finance Group.
  • You will be a highly effective teacher of both undergraduate and graduate students. The appointee will be expected to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in their specialist area, at introductory levels more widely, and to engage in research and publication both personally and through the supervision of research students.
  • The appointee may be asked to teach in the Department’s new Masters of Applied Finance programme, or may relieve existing finance lecturers from their current teaching so that they may teach in the new programme.
  • You will also be expected to seek research funding, to engage with the profession, and to contribute to departmental service.
