An opportunity has arisen to appoint a new Lead Technologist- Artificial Reproductive Technologies, in Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.

The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a newly created role in providing technical expertise and application on all aspects associated with the creation and preservation of genetic research animal models.

You will work alongside researchers to understand their requirements, advise and assist with the design of the research animal model, and through the application of artificial reproductive technologies to achieve successful breeding outcomes.

You will ensure that the small ART team is highly engaged and effective, with high a standard of animal health and welfare maintained at all times. You will seek ways to implement continuous improvement in the service offered to researcher community.

Position Description

About you

• You will have a sound knowledge of all aspects associated with the creation of genetically modified animal models.
• You will have experience in the generation of genetically engineered animal models from conception through to fruition.
• You will have a proven record of generating genetically modified animal models.
• You will have a strong international presence and network with others working in the field of artificial reproductive technologies.
• You will thrive in a dynamic, challenging environment.
• Key to your success in this role will be your ability to work collaboratively, building and maintaining relationships across all stakeholders, especially facility staff and the university medical research community.
• You will have experience in working with external organisations and suppliers of resources. 
• You will have, a strong understanding of regulatory compliance that is directly associated with animal technology, with a particular focus on animal health and welfare, biocontainment, and animal ethics.
• You will be able to keep abreast of emerging artificial reproductive technologies, evaluate and apply those that improve efficiencies in the service that the department offers.
