Company Description
Shipping Material Handler 2 should master all Material Handler 1 responsibilities and prove to be efficient in equipment operation and daily transaction codes within the department. Shipping Material Handler 2 is responsible for the handling and loading of tile and tile related products in a variety of applications to distribute quality products to Tile Shop stores and their customers. Material handlers must maintain a clean, neat, safe and organized work area while having the ability to manually move and lift 50 lbs. regularly and frequently move and lift to or over 100 lbs. Material handlers must have the ability to work a scheduled shift and follow direction.
Job Description
- Use wireless Radio Frequency (RF) device or desktop computer to perform all Bar Code functions, which include but are not limited to pull, put away, ship confirm, and inventory lookup.
- Select the correct pick ticket to determine items to be picked, packed, palletized or shipped.
- Convey pallets, boxes and items from bin locations to staging areas, build areas, pallets or crates.
- Manually lift, move, sort, carry or place boxes and items onto/off pallets and into/out of crates.
- Ensures inventory accuracy for item or location being picked, packed, palletized, shipped or put away to or from the bin location.
- Participates in cycle counting program as needed.
- Use computer systems and programs to print documents, labels and perform inventory transactions.
- Has the ability to use computer programs for training purposes without assistance and can assist others.
- Correctly use a variety of equipment including but not limited to sit-down forklift, Reach Truck, Order Picker, automatic wrapping machine, 2-wheeled cart, and powered and non-powered pallet jacks.
- Ensure that all pallets and items are clearly and accurately labeled, whether outbound to customers or returning to bin location.
- Completes inventory maintenance functions and/or transactions such as breakage/damage list, adjustments or zero ships.
- Acquire and apply the knowledge needed to pick, pack and ship in the Mosy/SKT category with accuracy to include the proper processing of parcel shipping in ECOMM where applicable.
- Proficient and accurate in the pick, pack and ship process for the Stone/LVT/Eng wd/Lam category to include ECOMM processing where applicable.
- Can properly and accurately process and ship LTL’s/CPU’s and Parcel for direct ships
- Securely build and wrap pallets and crates in a timely fashion.
- Assist with teaching, coaching and training other members of the team.
- Learn the basics of how to safely and properly load and unload trucks by hand and/or using sit down forklift or pallet jack.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and organized working environment.
- Take appropriate action when established procedures are not being followed.
- Inspect, use, and maintain equipment in good working order.
- Communicate effectively with members of the department and those in other departments.
- Meet scheduled attendance requirements; may work long hours which might include nights and weekends when necessary to reach goals.
- Adhere to all established company safety policies.
- Work in other departments as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1 – 2 years previous warehouse/distribution experience.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Strong work ethic.
- Sit-down Forklift, reach truck, and order picker experience required. Current certification or ability to be certified within 30 days of start date.
- Basic organizational, mathematical, and computer skills.
- Knowledge of proper safety measures.
- Ability to manually move and lift 50 lbs. regularly and frequently up to and over 100 lbs.
- Ability to work at varying heights.
- Ability to stand frequently as well as the ability to walk, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Ability to work independently or with a group.
