Job Description

Own the front line of growth and set the bar for UX at Adaptavist. As our Consulting Lead for UX, you’ll turn prospective client conversations into high-impact engagements, uncovering real business challenges, shaping compelling UX solutions, and leading the charge from discovery through to persuasive proposals, scoped projects, and signed deals. You’ll be the senior UX voice in the room, translating insight into strategy and strategy into value. 

As the Consulting Lead for UX, you will be a primary driver of business growth, focusing on pre-sales and the development of new client opportunities. This strategic role is centred on identifying and nurturing prospective client relationships, understanding their core business challenges, and shaping compelling UX solutions that deliver tangible value. You will be at the forefront of our client acquisition efforts, leading the creation of proposals, defining project scopes, and acting as the senior UX authority during the sales process.

The role will include mentoring of consultants who will be working across a wide variety of client engagements. As part of the role, some of your time will be billable to client work. The role will ensure our solutions are closely-tailored to client needs, whilst also reviewing the quality of deliverables and acting as a point of escalation on some engagements.

This could also include direct line management and as such the role will be expected to support the personal growth and career development of any direct reports within their role and future roles at Adaptavist.
 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Communicate effectively in a variety of formats with both internal and external audiences  to convey status, project findings, updates and recommendations as needed
  • Support, and where necessary lead, pre-sales activities and develop client proposals that align with the client requirements 
  • Collaborate with internal and client team members regarding business issues and potential solutions, and provide market insight 
  • Support and guide direct reports on performance and career development issues in line with Adaptavist’s performance and career development frameworks 
  • Mentor other Consulting team members on projects and their wider personal development as needed
  • Support operational aspects of team projects, including planning engagements, resource management and monitoring against progress
  • Control both the quality and schedule with regard to deliverables against scope
  • Negotiating successfully to resolve individual  team conflicts 
  • Maintain a high level of team performance that aligns with utilization goals set by PS Operations
  • Billable work on client engagements as and when needed 

 

Qualifications

Essential

  • Services-Consulting or Agency background is a must
  • Significant leadership experience in research or agency settings with operational and strategic responsibility
  • Proven ability to create and implement research strategies at the organisational level
  • Strong skills in business development, client acquisition and service design
  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods and understanding of business KPIs
  • Experience in tracking financial performance and using operational data to drive decisions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including presenting at executive level and promoting services externally
  • Ability to lead strategic initiatives and deliver measurable organisational impact
  • Skilled in mentoring, developing leaders and building resilient teams
  • Experience coordinating improvements in processes, tooling and operational standards
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and interpersonal skills
  • An ability to think innovatively and creatively
  • Drive and aptitude to manage a broad range of responsibilities
  • Interest in helping and inspiring colleagues

Desirable

  • Experience expanding services into new markets or geographies
  • Proficient in research platforms, CRM systems and operational management tools
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, financial metrics and business operations
  • Background in consultancy, agency or entrepreneurial settings
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive research practices
  • Experience managing remote teams across multiple time zones 
  • Experience within a fast-paced, fast-growth Tech start-up environment
  • Familiarity with a variety of work management ecosystems like Atlassian, Monday, Slack, AWS and others.
