Job Description

Tiger-Sul is a division of Tessenderlo Kerly and is seeking a Truck Driver for their Atmore AL Transportation Department. 

The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of sulfur bentonite fertilizers from plant facilities to customer locations via truck.  This role ensures compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards while maintaining operational continuity and product integrity. While providing customer service and maintaining a professional image. 

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Operate various types of delivery trucks and trailers setting safety first. Operate other kinds of equipment as required. 

  • Provide a customer-focused experience to our customers when delivering. Safety is the number one goal. Be alert to customer needs and problems and try to resolve them. Advise supervisor of all customer service activities. 

  • Maintain high standards of courtesy and respect for all customers and fellow employees. Develop a professional relationship with customers. 

  • Maintain high company image standards for self and vehicle.  

  • Personal appearance must be neat and well-groomed. Uniforms must be clean.  

  • Trucks must be kept clean and neat both inside and outside. 

  • Arrange for routine truck maintenance and repair with supervisor in accordance with service intervals specified in the operations manual.  

  • Perform minor maintenance functions as required. 

  • Prepare cargo documents, and other paperwork completely, accurately, and legibly to assure product quality. 

  • Have proper PPE and equipment readily available for shipment. 

Qualifications

Key Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors: 

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations (CFR 49) 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in bulk tanker transit 

  • High School diploma or equivalent 

  • Strong communication skills 

  • Ability to pull heavy hoses 

  • Ability to climb ladders and lift 50 pounds 

  • Current CDL with hazardous material, tanker, double-triple endorsement 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Amount Each day spent: Sitting 50%, Standing 35%, Walking 10% 

  • Lift/Carry up to 100 lbs. 

  • Push up to 60 lbs. 

  • Pull up to 60 lbs. 

  • Kneel, Squat, Climb, Ladders/Stairs 

  • Clean-Shaven required: in the event of respirator use at all pickup and delivering locations 

  • Over the road position: home approximately every other night 

  • Deliveries depending on plant location 

  • 3-5 loads/week depending on driving hours: Weekends are likely 

Work Environment:

  • Outdoor or facility-based operations involving hot, high-temperature materials.
  • Exposure to potential chemical hazards; requires full PPE and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Must meet all company, state and federal medical standards
  • Ability to maintain accurate reports, schedules and documentation
  • Ability to lift maximum weight of 40 pounds
  • Class A CDL with Hazmat/Tanker endorsement
  • 2 years driving experience
  • Physically fit and able to possess and maintain a medical certificate

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Safely make deliveries in a timely manner
  • Perform per trip and post trip equipment inspections
  • Ensure all safety equipment is used as needed
  • Follow all company policies, procedures and requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Submit all paperwork and documentation to office in a timely manner
