Senior Application Architect - Azure, Application Modernisation

Why This Role?

We're looking for a Senior Application Modernisation Architect to help organisations unlock greater value from their application estate. Working across both pre-sales and delivery, you'll engage directly with customers, shape modernisation strategies, influence technical decisions and help deliver transformational cloud-native solutions. This is an opportunity to combine architecture, consulting and hands-on technical expertise while helping build and grow a rapidly expanding practice.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead customer discovery workshops to understand application landscapes, business challenges and transformation goals
• Shape application modernisation strategies and cloud adoption roadmaps aligned to business outcomes
• Design modern application solutions leveraging Microsoft Azure and cloud-native technologies
• Support technical sales activities through solution design, proposals, presentations and customer demonstrations
• Develop Statements of Work including scope, assumptions, delivery approach and effort estimation
• Conduct application portfolio assessments, dependency analysis and modernisation planning
• Define migration and transformation approaches using recognised frameworks including 7Rs
• Provide architectural guidance across modernisation and software development initiatives
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and delivery teams to ensure successful implementation
• Contribute to service development, sales enablement content, case studies and solution accelerators

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Experience in solution architecture, software development or technical consulting
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure and modern cloud application architectures
• Knowledge of application modernisation strategies and migration approaches
• Experience with containers, APIs, serverless architectures, PaaS services and DevOps practices
• Ability to translate technical concepts into clear business-focused recommendations
• Experience engaging with customers, stakeholders and technical teams
• Strong communication, presentation and solution design skills
• Ability to work across multiple customer engagements simultaneously

Desirable

• Experience delivering cloud transformation or digital modernisation programmes
• Knowledge of application assessment and portfolio analysis methodologies
• Experience building technical proposals and participating in pre-sales activities
• Familiarity with enterprise application environments and legacy modernisation challenges
• Exposure to hyperscaler platforms and emerging cloud-native technologies
• Desire to progress into a lead architecture or solutioning role
