Job Description

As a ServiceNow Developer, you will be responsible for the development, configuration, and administration of the ServiceNow platform to meet the needs of our organization. Your expertise in implementing and optimizing Employee Centre, Self Service Portal, Service Catalog, Chatbot/Now Assist, ITOM, ITAM, ITSM Pro and other ServiceNow Modules and Applications will be pivotal. You will work closely with various stakeholders to design and implement integrations, automations, and custom applications using Integration and Orchestration tools. 

Key Responsibilities: 

1.ServiceNow Development and Customization: 

  • Develop and customize ServiceNow applications and modules, including Employee Centre, Self Service Portal, and Service Catalog.
  • Design and implement solutions using JavaScript, GlideScript, HTML, CSS, and AngularJS. 
  • Create and maintain custom workflows, business rules, UI policies, and client scripts to meet specific business requirements. 
  • End to end implementation and integrations (both, out of the box and custom) and configuration of various modules of ServiceNow (e.g. SAM Pro, HAM Pro, CMDB, ITOM Discovery, CSDM, ITSM, Orchestration) Creation of solution architecture design document (High-Level Design (HLD) & Low-Level Design (LLD) and data models. 
  • ServiceNow customisations such as: custom licence metrics, custom table, reports and dashboards aligned to key HAM and SAM roles/personas. 
  • Support with the design and implementation/automation of SAM and HAM processes and IT Service Management (ITSM) workflows. 
  • ServiceNow maintenance and monitoring (implementation of updates, data integrity checks and performance monitoring). 

2.Chatbot/Now Assist Implementation: 

  • Integrate Chatbot/Now Assist with other ServiceNow modules and third-party applications.  
  • Develop and configure Chatbot/Now Assist to enhance user interactions and streamline service delivery. 

3.Integration and Automation: 

  • Integrate the platform with other enterprise systems and third-party applications, using the university’s data integration software, ensuring seamless data flow and process automation with the aim of increasing business productivity, efficiency and user experience. Design, develop, and implement integrations with various enterprise applications using Integration Hub. 
  • Automate business processes and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues to ensure seamless data flow between systems. 

4.Service Catalog Management: 

  • Create and maintain a robust Service Catalog, including the design and development of service request items, record producers, and workflows. 
  • Ensure the Service Catalog aligns with ITIL best practices and meets business needs. 

5.Employee Centre and Self-Service Portal: 

  • Implement and configure the Employee Centre and Self-Service Portal to enhance user experience and self-service capabilities. 
  • Customize the portal to reflect the organization’s branding and user requirements including UX and Script customisation. 

6.Application Development using App Engine: 

  • Develop custom applications on the ServiceNow platform using App Engine. 
  • Design and implement data models, user interfaces, and workflows for custom applications. 

7.Stakeholder Collaboration and Requirement Gathering: 

  • Work closely with business stakeholders, project managers, and other IT teams to gather and analyse business requirements. 
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications and develop solutions that align with organizational goals.  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT support, business analysts, and stakeholders, to ensure that solutions are aligned with business objectives.

 8.System Administration and Maintenance: 

  • Perform system administration tasks, including user management, security configurations, and system upgrades. 
  • Monitor system performance, conduct regular health checks, and implement enhancements to improve system efficiency and reliability.  
  • Work as a key part of a wider agile team, participating in team-based development, sprint planning, testing and deployment activities 

9.Documentation and Training: 

  • Create comprehensive documentation for developed solutions, including technical specifications, user guides, and training materials. 
  • Provide training and support to end-users and internal teams on new functionalities and best practices. 
  • Write and maintain scripts for business rules, client scripts, server scripts, and scripted web services to enhance platform functionality 
  • Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, customizations, and development work to facilitate troubleshooting, auditing, and knowledge sharing 

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a ServiceNow Developer. 

  • Experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS, REST, SOAP) and integration techniques 

  • Proficiency in ServiceNow development, including custom application development and scripting. 

  • Strong experience in implementing Employee Centre, Self Service Portal, and Service Catalog. 

  • Expertise in developing and configuring Chatbot/Now Assist. 

  • Proven track record of successful integrations using Integration Hub and other integration tools. 

  • Experience with automation tools and techniques. 

  • Strong experience and knowledge ITSM, ITAM,SAM & HAM Pro, SOE, SPM, CSM, HRSD,etc. modules of ServiceNow  

  • Relevant experience of the CMDB structure within ServiceNow, aligning to the CSDM framework. 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or other relevant certifications. 

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools. 

  • Knowledge of additional programming languages and frameworks.
