Company Description

Cellular Origins

Cell therapies have been shown to cure devastating and previously untreatable diseases like cancer by re-programming the patient's own immune system. Giving more patients access to these life-saving therapies requires a revolution in manufacturing and process automation.

Cellular Origins, is enabling scalable, cost-effective and efficient manufacture of cell and gene therapies. Our technology addresses the challenges associated with manufacturing at scale with an elegant robotic manufacturing automation solution that reduces cost and labour, eliminates human error, and increases efficiency.

Job Description

You’ll join as a core team member and quickly take ownership of meaningful activities of design work that directly impact what we ship. The emphasis is on detail, quality, and pace, with the satisfaction of taking something that already works and making it production-ready, service-ready, and easier to build.

You’ll help turn late-stage development into confident releases, making sure our designs are robust, manufacturable, and ready to use in GMP environments.

  • Take responsibility for detailing and completing significant mechanical design areas through to customer delivery
  • Mature existing mechanisms and assemblies for production release, with a focus on robustness and efficiency
  • Produce high-quality CAD and drawings in SolidWorks, to BS8888
  • Support hands-on testing and later-stage development, using what you learn to de-risk final releases before they enter service
  • Identify risks early, then mitigate through the design process, including FMEA and practical root cause analysis
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to hand over designs cleanly, including documentation, tolerances, materials, and build intent
  • Contribute to qualification, certification, and release into formal change management systems

Qualifications

You’ll thrive here if you like being close to the hardware, enjoy detail work that really matters, and feel proud when a design is not only clever, but dependable and buildable.

You’ll bring:

  • A Mechanical Engineering degree, or a science-based degree with strong, relevant industrial experience
  • Experience working on low to medium volume products, ideally in late-stage development and pre-production release
  • Confidence working with machined parts and low volume polymer parts, and a solid grounding in materials
  • Experience of qualification and certification activities, plus releasing designs into controlled change management systems
  • A practical approach to design risk, including FMEA, root cause analysis, and designing issues out early
  • Strong SolidWorks capability, including producing clear, accurate drawings to BS8888
  • Experience in regulated environments (GMP or other cleanroom environments) is a real plus
