Lead Engineering Consultant - Health Tech
- Full-time
- Role Type: Experienced
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Technical Discipline: Science or Engineering
- Department: Health Tech
Company Description
TTP is an employee-owned technology and product development consultancy, with a 40-year track record of partnering with ambitious clients to solve complex challenges and bring innovative, commercially successful solutions to market.
We invent, design, and manufacture impactful products and technologies across a wide range of industries – including healthcare, life science, energy, and communications – and at the intersection of engineering, physical science, and biology.
Our working culture encourages entrepreneurship, shared ideas and technical collaboration, while providing you with the freedom to do your best work.
Job Description
We’re looking for an ambitious engineer ready to step into a leadership role and shape the future of a key sector within our Health Tech division. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a technically rich area where we already have a strong track record and long-standing client relationships - and define where it goes next as we grow.
You won’t be dropped in at the deep end. You’ll initially work closely with the current lead, building confidence and momentum, with the clear intention that within the year you’ll be setting the team’s direction and leading your colleagues in delivering that. Along the way, you’ll be backed by a wider, collaborative, Health Tech team of experienced experts who want you to succeed.
This role will suit you if you bring strong technical judgement, enjoy engaging with clients, and take pride in supporting excellent project delivery. You’ll thrive if you’re motivated by building long-term internal and external relationships, and excited by the opportunity to shape both a business area and the people within it.
Core elements of the role
- Build and sustain long-term relationships with major international clients, acting as a trusted technical and commercial partner.
- Develop a deep understanding of the sector’s technical and commercial drivers, and – with support from experienced colleagues – take increasing ownership of the strategy and direction of TTP’s work in this market. This includes defining and delivering against targets across sales, project delivery and team development.
- Oversee the delivery of high-quality, technically challenging projects, ensuring Project Leads are well supported and we are consistently meeting client needs.
- Travel internationally to meet clients and attend conferences to support project delivery, deepen industry insight and identify new opportunities.
About you
- You have a strong academic background with at least a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
- You’ve successfully led technically challenging projects with multidisciplinary teams.
- You’re commercially astute, with experience in a client-facing consultancy environment – building trusted relationships, identifying new opportunities and growing existing partnerships.
- You’re naturally curious and continually motivated to deepen and broaden your understanding of both technology and the business context around it.
- You have a strong sense of personal responsibility, with the courage and resilience to pursue ambitious goals and bring others with you.
- You may not have formal line management responsibility, but you can lead with informal authority, and coach and mentor others with empathy, building strong collaborative relationships and influencing effectively.
- Experience developing regulated medical devices (or in a closely related field) is beneficial, but not essential.
