Job Description

At TED, we seek to bridge, include, and diversify because we truly believe ideas are for everyone. It is important to us to attract individuals from diverse backgrounds who are curious about the world and interested in helping us spread ideas far and wide.

This is a temporary contract starting mid-February until mid-May 2024. In this role, you will be supporting TED2024 Vancouver. Work done leading up to the event will be done remotely and you will be required to be on-site for the event April 15 - 19, 2024 with some additional dates onsite leading up to the event. This position pays $20 - $25 / hour and is budgeted to be 40 hours a week for 3 months.

About the role

You’ll assist the Audience Curation and Development team on key activations and programs for strategic communities (first time attendees, the Ignite program, donor program, community events and socials, etc). You’ll support with a variety of tasks; including prep for in-person and online community events, analyzing data and building audience reports, and reviewing conference applications.

You always prioritize the attendee experience, you’re an active listener, a clear communicator and you enjoy collaborative work. As a member of the Conference Team, your role enhances outstanding experience for attendees and contributes to the overall success of TED’s world-class events.

What you’ll do

  • Assist with in-person and online community events (developing timelines, customer support, creating collateral, event preparations)
  • Develop, organize and maintain efficient community database systems and various processes
  • Data verification
  • Communicate and follow up with internal and external stakeholders
  • Analyze and build reports on the effectiveness of these programs and understanding the community
  • Bring to life programming designed to build a welcoming and inclusive culture at TED events, socials and gatherings.

 

Qualifications

  • Solid working knowledge of Google applications / Microsoft suite (especially Sheets / Excel).
  • ​​Customer support or similar experience, both in-person and online.
  • Experience with helping with online and in-person events
  • Tech-savvy, fast learner of new tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills: in person, verbal and written.
  • Experience working with diverse networks or communities
  • Diplomacy and quick problem solving under pressure.
  • Background in working with CRMs to manage customer records.
  • High sense of personal responsibility and integrity; deep commitment to equity.
  • Strong writing and editing skills an asset
  • Degree or diploma is an asset
