Job Description
At TAL, this role plays a vital part in helping Australians live with confidence and choice. Focused on shaping smarter investment decisions, it brings deep quantitative insight to how we manage risk, grow value and meet our long‑term promises to customers. By connecting investment strategy with the realities of life insurance and regulatory responsibility, the role helps ensure TAL remains strong, sustainable and trusted—today and into the future. In this role you will:
- Shape investment strategy by developing capital market insights that optimise capital efficiency and asset‑liability outcomes.
- Strengthen manager arrangements through robust benchmark design aligned to liability sensitivities and capital objectives.
- Evaluate investment performance using quantitative attribution to inform decision‑making and improve outcomes.
- Enhance portfolio resilience by delivering clear performance, risk insights, stress testing and scenario analysis.
- Inform exposure management through market research and disciplined sizing of derivative and fixed‑income overlays.
- Enable confident decisions by partnering with ALM, ALCo and leaders to deliver timely, trusted investment insights and advice
Qualifications
- Deep quantitative modelling capability, with the confidence to turn complex data into meaningful investment insight.
- Strong understanding of rates and credit markets, and how they drive risk, return and long‑term outcomes.
- Working knowledge of asset‑liability management, connecting investment decisions to insurance liabilities and capital strength.
- Awareness of life insurance regulatory capital frameworks, and why disciplined risk management matters to customers.
- Clear, engaging communication, able to explain sophisticated concepts in a practical, trusted way.
- Curiosity and initiative, with a genuine passion for markets and a desire to continuously improve how things are done.
