Position Summary

To support this mission, Syngenta’s Seed Engineering Team is seeking an Automation Engineer to be based in Turkey. This role will develop, lead and support plant automation projects across Europe’s seed production sites as part of Syngenta's globally connected engineering network which seeks to increase manufacturing capacity, improve quality and reduce manufacturing costs. This role will be responsible for establishing and implementing automation system preventive maintenance practices across EAME seed production sites.

Accountabilities:

  • Collaborating with regional and global engineering peers to align standards, share best practices and leverage cross-regional expertise
  • Working closely with engineering teams to define scope of work for capital automation projects on short and medium terms
  • Collaboratively supporting the business cases on automation and OT/data related investments
  • Working closely with vendors to select the right technology and automation consultants to develop, improve and maintain site SCADA software and hardware (patches, version updates, etc)
  • Supporting developments, implementations and management of site control systems that require compliance with Cybersecurity standards
  • Ensuring basic training knowledge development in the production teams to raise overall OT knowledge
  • Working closely with local maintenance teams in processing sites to ensure regular preventive maintenance programs on the site control systems & network are followed
  • Providing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process support to local maintenance teams
  • Providing guidance and documentation on inspection, replacement, troubleshooting of automation equipment and keeping accurate records of work performed
  • Driving continuous improvement to site SCADA reporting system in alignment with global standard, ensuring visible data collection that enables data driven decision making
  • Promoting reapplication culture across the region while identifying, collecting and implementing best practices and manufacturing standards

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, mechatronics or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance, OT automation system and/or project delivery
  • Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing, IT, OT and industrial processes
  • Analytical skills for troubleshooting designs not working as planned
  • Capability to manage projects across multiple regions
  • Lean six sigma knowledge (minimum green belt or master black belt) or equivalent knowledge to manage/optimize processes advantageous
  • Proficiency in the local language and English at C1 – C3 level (verbal and written)
