Job Description

As Global Technical Manager – Insect Control Development, you will design and implement technical development strategies for new active ingredients and innovative technologies, bridging Research & Development (R&D), with marketing, regulatory, and chemistry functions on a global scale. You will provide scientific and agronomic expertise alongside market and competitor foresight, driving complex international development projects from early field testing through to launch and lifecycle management — central to strengthening Syngenta's competitive position.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead global technical development of new active ingredients and strategic projects, from early field testing to launch and lifecycle management, continuously enhancing or repositioning product value propositions.
  • Plan and coordinate harmonized global field trial programs, assembling cross-functional teams across research, regions, and countries to deliver data efficiently and on time.
  • Translate field data into compelling, market-oriented technical strategies and launch plans aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead biology activities within global Multi-Product Teams (MPTs), Product Launch Teams (PLTs), and Active Ingredient Management (AIM) Teams, fostering technical networks with customers and key influencers.
  • Identify new market opportunities across active ingredients, formulations, and emerging technologies, including digital and precision application solutions.
  • Support third-party product development and contribute to co-development negotiations to expand the portfolio.
  • Influence stakeholders at global, regional, and country level across a complex, highly regulated, multicultural environment.

Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in agronomy, agricultural sciences or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Broad knowledge of agribusiness, including crop protection, biologicals, biostimulants, abiotic stress management and new technologies is required.
  • In-depth understanding of technical profiles and positioning of crop protection products, including competitor landscapes.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in crop protection development or technical management in a regional or global role.
  • Demonstrated experience with insect control products, including insecticide mode of action, resistance management, and insect pest biology.
  • Solid understanding of R&D processes involved in the development of new active ingredients and products.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into market-oriented, commercially relevant messages.
  • Passion for digital technology and experience establishing digital solutions that support trialing excellence.
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver projects in a multifunctional, multicultural environment, with strong results orientation and efficient use of resources.
  • Effective influencing and communication skills across diverse stakeholder groups, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, complexity, and competing commercial pressures while maintaining technical integrity.
