Job Description
The purpose of the Controlled Environment Lead is to support the local product development program in the efforts to create superior products and to support the soybean nursery growth room targets and goals for precision, accuracy, and efficiency in site operations.
Accountabilities:
- Assist Operations Manager with planning, design, and execution of greenhouse trials within strict timelines.
- Oversee planting, sampling, data collection, harvest, threshing, and shipping of field trials.
- Provide field status updates, including written reports as requested.
- Assist in managing contract employees, including tracking and communicating performance management metrics.
- Understand, communicate, and execute complex work instructions for project success.
- Work within a cross-functional matrix environment at the site to accomplish trial objectives.
- Conduct all activities in compliance with Syngenta Stewardship, Human Resource, and HSE requirements.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support other crops and agronomy activities as needed throughout the year and during high-season periods, including some fieldwork.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an agriculture-related discipline and 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of soybean anatomy and soybean pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and fertilizers.
- Experience identifying soybean pests and diseases.
- Working knowledge of farming equipment.
- Understanding and use of modern agronomic practices.
- Values teamwork and brings a positive attitude when working with others to solve problems.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability and willingness to work in high or low temperature conditions in the greenhouse and field (80% greenhouse/field, 20% office).
- Ability and willingness to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability and willingness to work long hours during critical periods of the growing season, including holidays, weekdays, and weekends.
Additional Information
Salary for the role is $62,400 - $78,000 per year.
