At Syngenta, we believe every employee has a role to play in safely feeding the world and taking care of our planet. To support that challenge, the Production and Supply team is currently seeking a SPR Field Technology Associate located in Waterloo, NE.
Responsibilities
Trialing Activities: Perform all trialing activities including planting, pollination, pesticide applications, harvest, seed cleaning, seed packaging, seed treating, labeling, and data recording.
Land Preparation and Chemical Management: Prepare land for planting, including cultivating, equipment transportation, planting, setting up irrigation, and fertilizing. Coordinate, determine quantities, order, and arrange and/or apply needed agricultural chemicals.
Equipment and Inventory Management: Maintain a log for all critical facility and farm equipment maintenance. Manage and maintain accurate supply and seed inventories for trialing.
Data Management: Input and maintain data in the functional data system. Support all activities of seeds production research trialing.
Collaboration and Innovation: Collaborate and assist with other Seeds Production Research sites. Work with production managers, agronomists, and technicians to test and implement new technologies in production fields.
Regulatory Compliance and Supervision: Obtain a CDL, Pesticide applicator and Drone license. Supervise temporary employees. Ensure full HSE compliance, promote environmentally sustainable solutions, and abide by regulatory and stewardship guidelines for seed and trial management.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- AA or BS degree in an agricultural discipline preferred
- 1 – 3 years field research experience.
- Experience operating farm and/or research equipment.
- Ability to use MS Office, especially Word and Excel, and other standard office software.
- Farm equipment and machinery operation, including but not limited to Tractor, Planter, Lateral Pivot Irrigator, Sprayer equipment, Drone, and Seed Conditioning Equipment.
- Good organizational skills and ability to abide by trial protocols.
- Ability to work in a team and to communicate with individuals.
Additional Information
- Lean Six Sigma certification (desired)
- 80% of work performed at production location, field or meetings.
- 20% of work performed in standard office.
- Ability to work under different weather conditions, exposure to inclement weather conditions while working outside.
- Requires occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds during the physically demanding growing season.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and have or have the ability to acquire and maintain a CDL, Pesticide Applicator license and Drone pilot license.
