Job Description
Role purpose
- Oversee the corn program activities and planning for planting, pollinations, detasseling, tissue sampling and harvest of all nurseries. Ensure the efficacy and delivery in seed quantity and quality is achieved. Responsible for all employees perform always following all HSE requirements.
- Crop research associated role, implies to spend 75% of working hours in the field, surpevising and taking actions of any day to day activity.
- You will oversee the supervision and training of the seasonal employees on the Crop area.
Accountabilities:
- Supervise all Corn Technician and temporaries appropiately to ensure the KPIs.
- Implement/develop new proyects.
- Active comunication with Agronomy and Operations teams to ensuring key issues are escalated in a timely manner.
- Identify ,train and develop Research Technician to maximize their supervision skills and team integration and attention to details when leading fields.
- Responsible for planting, pollinations, detasseling and harvesting of all nurseries.
- Partner with Crop Lead in the planning of supplies and people resources. (temporary employes).
- Make crop updates and communicate important issues to Crop Lead.
- Measure, track, improve and communicate crop performance through globally consistent & aligned Operational KPI’s,
- Active participation in the Planning part of Crop activities to share ideas and drive continuous improvement mindset
Qualifications
Knowledge, experience & capabilities
- M.S. in agriculture crop science or biology related to field (desired).
- BS in Agronomy, Biotechnology, Corn, Breeding or related field or in relevant science with a track-record of delivery. Good understanding of agriculture, crop management and plant breeding principles.
- 3+ years industry related experience.
- Knowledge of seed crop research, production, and quality assurance practices.
- Knowledge and experience in corn, soybean, and sunflower seed production.
- Knowledge of and ability to use computer software for data management.
- English proficient written and speaking.
- Quality and effectiveness of communication and collaboration with all stakeholders.
- Ability to use MS Office, especially Word, Excel, Power Point, and other standard office software.
