Job Description
The primary purpose of this System Engineer role is to address vulnerabilities identified by both internal and external scanners, as outlined in the IronHide (To improve, invest, our security) project plan. This includes:
- Vulnerability Management: effectively addressing critical and high vulnerabilities to enhance our security posture and protect our systems from potential threats.
- Automated Patching: Developing and implementing automated scripts to streamline the patching process across all our assets, ensuring timely and consistent updates.
This role is crucial for maintaining a secure environment by promptly addressing vulnerabilities and automating security measures to safeguard our IT infrastructure.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager – Wholesale, the System Engineer will work together with other System Engineers.
What you'll do as a System Engineer:
- Build and manage Kubernetes clusters on-premises and in the cloud.
- Configure and deploy Kubernetes clusters with deep expertise in administration.
- Implement and manage version control tools like Gitlab or equivalent.
- Write automation scripts using Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, etc.
- Implement identity management and RBAC(Role-Based Access Control) using Active Directory and Keycloak.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Linux/Windows operating systems.
- Utilize VMware ecosystem tools and practices as required.
- Ensure continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines are efficient and reliable.
- Monitor system performance, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Implement security best practices in the DevOps pipeline.
- Manage cloud infrastructure and services (Amazon CloudFront and AWS WAF).
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and team members, providing clear communication and documentation.
- Conduct regular system backups and disaster recovery planning
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in DevOps or System Engineer roles.
- Strong expertise in Kubernetes administration; CNCF certifications preferred.
- Experience deploying and configuring Gitlab or equivalent tools.
- Proficiency in writing automation scripts (Bash, PowerShell, Ansible).
- Knowledge of software package management (Docker, NuGet, crates, pip).
- Familiarity with identity management and RBAC using Active Directory and Keycloak.
- Experience in Linux/Windows operating system administration.
- Understanding of the VMware ecosystem and related tools.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Grafana, ELK stack is preferable.
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies and practices.
