Job Description
About the role
As an Electrician Technician, this role sits within the team responsible for maintaining the critical infrastructure that keeps Sydney Airport operating smoothly. This 6-month max-term contract position plays an important role in supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient movement of passengers through the airport experience.
In this role, you will contribute to the performance and reliability of the Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), ensuring operations run with minimal disruption. You will play a key part in maintaining system integrity, responding to faults, and supporting continuous improvement across a complex and fast-paced environment
In this role, you will have the opportunity to…
- Oversee the operation and electrical maintenance of Baggage Handling Systems to support continuity of service
- Perform fault finding and carry out both emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance across BHS equipment
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth system performance, including during contingencies
- Provide technical input to resolve complex system issues and support operational decision-making
- Ensure all activities are conducted in line with safety, quality, and environmental requirements
- Support ongoing system reliability through proactive identification of risks and improvement opportunities
About you
- Hold an Electrical Trade Qualification with relevant post-trade training or certifications
- Demonstrate experience maintaining and fault finding on conveyor or material handling systems
- Bring working knowledge of SCADA systems and PLCs, with exposure to Siemens S7 and Citect SCADA preferred
- Possess experience working in security-controlled or high-compliance environments (such as airports or similar)
- Apply strong problem-solving skills in operational or maintenance scenarios
- Be able to work at heights and carry out manual handling tasks as part of the role
