The Head of Project Controls – Ireland & UK is responsible for defining and leading the Project Controls strategy across the regional portfolio, ensuring the organization has the people, capabilities, systems, processes, governance, and culture required to successfully deliver Statkraft's renewable energy projects.

The role provides strategic leadership across cost, schedule, risk, reporting, forecasting, change management, and portfolio performance, while ensuring alignment between regional delivery needs, the TN unit, and the central Project Controls function.

As a member of the Ireland & UK Project Delivery leadership team, the Head of Project Controls plays a key role in shaping regional priorities, influencing decision-making, driving organizational improvements, and creating a high-performing Project Controls function that supports predictable and competitive project delivery.

The role is accountable not only for project controls performance, but also for building the long-term capability of the function through organizational design, talent development, implementation of best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The position will be based in Cork (Ireland) to enable close collaboration with the VP Project Delivery Ireland & UK, Asset Owner and key regional stakeholders. Proximity to the regional leadership team is considered essential to ensure effective portfolio governance, stakeholder engagement, decision-making and strategic alignment across the project lifecycle

Job Description

  • Define and own the Project Controls strategy for Ireland & UK.
  • Establish the regional Project Controls operating model, including organization, governance, competencies, processes, tools, and ways of working while ensuring alignment with the central project controls function.
  • Build, lead, develop, and retain a high-performing Project Controls community across the region.
  • Drive the adoption of data-driven project controls practices, utilizing historical project data and lessons learned to continuously improve estimating accuracy, forecasting reliability, and risk assessment quality across the portfolio.
  • Lead portfolio-level reviews, performance assessments, and recovery initiatives, ensuring risks and opportunities are proactively identified and managed.
  • Act as the single point of accountability for Project Controls performance and maturity within the regional portfolio.
  • Drive alignment between regional TNN project delivery priorities, Asset Ownership expectations, TN standards, and central requirements (TSW).
  • Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, proactive risk management, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead transformation and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen portfolio performance and delivery predictability.

Stakeholder Management

  • A critical success factor for this role is the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple organizational levels and functions.
  • The Head of Project Controls will serve as the primary interface between regional Project Delivery, Project Development, Finance & Business Support ensuring alignment on priorities, governance, reporting, and performance expectations.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business Management or a related discipline.
  • Deep experience in Project Management, Project Development, Project Controls or Major Project Delivery within infrastructure, energy or renewable energy sectors.
  • Experience working within matrix organizations and influencing senior stakeholders across multiple functions and geographical locations.
  • Experience supporting executive decision-making through portfolio insights, performance reporting, and strategic recommendations.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy project development and delivery, including wind, solar, BESS, and associated infrastructure, is highly desirable.
