Job Description

As our German portfolio continues to grow and operational and reporting requirements increase, we are looking to strengthen our team with a Junior Sustainability Specialist based in Düsseldorf, with regular on-site presence.

In this role, you will support the operational implementation of Statkraft’s sustainability approach in Germany. The position is Düsseldorf-based with regular on-site presence, working closely with the Country Sustainability Manager, project teams and internal stakeholders. You will also support sustainability activities across our German sites and assets and project portfolio, including occasional travel to sites in Germany or Europe. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Portfolio-wide sustainability data collection, validation and reporting across renewable assets and projects (e.g. hydropower, wind, solar, storage, biomass)
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timely delivery
  • Implement and track sustainability initiatives related to climate, circularity, biodiversity and just transition
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs and reporting tools to support transparency and decision-making
  • Support sustainability assessments and due diligence activities in project development and M&A contexts
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (e.g. project management, asset management, HSSE, legal, procurement) to streamline workflows and improve data quality
  • Support the documentation of processes, guidelines and standards and contribute to continuous process improvement
  • Contribute to cross-functional and European sustainability projects by preparing analyses, benchmarks and background materials

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental engineering, sustainability, renewable energy, natural resources management or a related field
  • First practical experience in sustainability, operations, reporting or risk management, ideally in the energy or infrastructure sector
  • Good understanding of environmental and social sustainability topics, with an interest in international frameworks and standards (such as the IFC Performance Standards, UN Global Compact’s 10 Principles, OECD Guidelines on Multinational Enterprises, and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights)
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail, particularly when working with data and reporting processes
  • Structured, reliable, solution-oriented and pragmatic working style
  • Ability to work collaboratively in complex team setups while also handling tasks independently
  • Very good written and spoken English and German skills
  • Confidence in working with digital tools (e.g. Excel, reporting tools and collaboration platforms); experience with dashboards or process tools is a plus
