Job Description
Reporting to the Technical Manager BESS&GRID, the Project Engineer BESS&GRID will be responsible for:
General activities:
- Lead the development of the project on all technical aspects (BESS plant and GRID connection), interfacing with Business Development, other Statkraft departments, consultants, service providers and DSO and TSO.
- Prepare and/or verify and validate the technical documentation (BESS plant and GRID connection) along the project value chain, from early development until start of operation of the wind, solar and BESS plant.
- Manage documentation on plant design, focusing on electromechanical engineering.
- Organize and manage site investigation with a specific focus on topographic and geotechnical survey and connection path.
- Participate in interactions with consultants, partners, and suppliers to ensure best market knowledge
- Manage contracts with external service providers and consultants, ensuring the scope of work is consistent and all applicable rules and regulations (safety, security, etc) are correctly implemented.
- Participate on the definition of concept design and lead the technical decision process to identify the best design solution (BESS plant and GRID connection), including site visits and meetings with other project team members.
- Interact actively with other peers in the Southern Area region to work in a uniform way and support, when needed, the other Countries of the Area.
- Check quality and technical specifications for tenders.
- Support Project Manager and Contract manager in preparing RfP package to start procurement processes in the construction phase.
- Follow up and validate design documentation for permitting and during construction.
- Support other units in Statkraft as required: Development, Construction, Central Engineering.
- Drafting guidelines and basic design documents to align with external designers.
Specific activities for GRID connection:
- Preliminary grid studies, such as short-circuit analysis, load flow studies, compliance with TERNA standards and CEI 0-16, and simulations for specific projects using dedicated software.
- Preliminary capex cost estimates during the development phase, identifying risks, exclusions, contingencies, and assumptions.
- Providing technical support for managing the grid connection agreement.
Specific activities for BESS:
- Sizing energy storage systems and engineering design.
- Creation of engineering drawings, including layouts and single line diagram.
- Leading the design and modelling of the system to optimize the performance and cost-effectiveness of battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Qualifications
- Industrial engineering degree. Electrical engineering degree would be considered as a strong plus
- Proven Experience in development within the Renewable Energy industry, especially BESS plant and GRID connection, is a strongly preferred
- Strong capacity in creating and managing relationships with internal departments, external stakeholders.
- Fluency in Italian and English. French or German is considered a plus.
- Flexibility, interdisciplinary teamwork skills and willingness to travel when required
- Strong proactivity, self-motivation, result-oriented attitude, ability to work without supervision
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and to manage multiple projects at the same time
- Ability to receive empowerment and autonomy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
A predominantly on‑site working arrangement is required. Applications from candidates with limited availability for in‑office presence may be considered where the profile is deemed to be of particular interest.
