Job Description

To support the underwriting team in evaluating insurance applications and assessing risk of individuals / businesses / assets by conducting basic risk assessments in line with IAM guidelines. To assist in making informed underwriting decisions that balance risk exposure with business growth, while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellent service to brokers and clients.

Qualifications

Type of Qualification: First Degree
Field of Study: Business Commerce, Finance and Accounting, Mathematical Sciences, Risk Management

Experience Required
Insurance
Insurance
1-2 years
Minimum of 1 years' experience in the financial services or insurance industry. Proven track record of achieving performance targets and contributing to process improvements

1-2 years
Solid understanding of South African financial services regulations (e.g., FSCA, TCF, POPIA) relevant to underwriting.

1-2 years
Thorough understanding of relevant insurance products, policy wordings, and their applications.

Less than 1 year
Experience across multiple product lines (e.g., Life, Health, General) is highly advantageous.

Less than 1 year
Knowledge of internal control frameworks and ethical standards. Ability to identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements.

Less than 1 year
Knowledge of underwriting principles, practices, and risk assessment methodologies.
