Job Description

Promoting, managing and co-ordinating the Global Markets business in Country in line with the CIB strategy in order to grow the franchise maximise profitability and improve/maintain the Bank's profile as a proficient and compliant operator in the Country market.

Accountability for the AFS (Banking) book performance in close co-operation with the Treasurer and ALM function of the Bank.

Ensure excellent service to customers via GM Sales units Business Development and networking internally and externally especially with regulators and other Banks/funds. Ensure co-ordination of the regional sales & trading activities with the Matrix.

Execute ALM requirements based on the liquidity position within the framework of ALCO policies.

Good understanding of the current global  and domestic developments, including economical & political. Up to date knowledge of all Global Markets Products traded in the local market with specific emphasis to spot, swaps, repos, fixed income, linear and non-linear products.

Monitor interest rate risk, and the Bank’s liquidity with a specific reference to the trading books while closely interacting with the ALM team. Responsible for ensuring compliance of trading activities within trading limits and new product mandates across foreign exchange, money market and fixed income products. Build the Global Markets profile in Country as the number one Bank and GM business, through industry leading initiatives with all client bases.

Provide leadership to the Trading & Sales team in executing the Group’s Global Markets strategy. Responsible for adapting the strategy to maximise the opportunity for local market conditions. Actively support Group client strategy initiatives and adopt Group standards, policies and procedures in terms of trading, sales and operations.

Provide strategic direction and management of the Country GM team. Motivate and develop staff and encourage team work in building the Country GM franchise across CIB. Deliver efficient execution of Sales, Trading and Treasury initiatives through regional and country GM heads in these respective functions. Ensure an effective and motivated GM team, including talent development, performance management, and partnering with GM & Group initiatives in this regard.

Represent the Bank on the various financial markets regulatory forums. Represent Global Markets at management level of CIB in-country and Bank-wide management forums as appropriate (Alco etc.). Ensure a stable and compliant operating environment, as evidenced by satisfactory audits and minimized operational losses.

Support franchise initiatives via Sales heads and directly lead client engagements with key customers.

Qualifications

Required: First Degree in Business Commerce

Preferred: Masters Degree in Business Commerce

Total number of years' experience: 12 years

5 to 7 Years: 

An excellent working knowledge of foreign exchange, interest rates, equities and an intermediate understanding of other trading products. A good appreciation and knowledge of Risk Management, covering Operational Risk, Market Risk and Credit Risk. A good understanding of macroeconomics and current economic trends.

Minimum of 5 years depth of experience and exposure in Global Markets and with Banking background. Assets and Liabilities Management as well as Treasury and Capital management experience.
