Job Description

To conduct data collection and analysis, perform database maintenance, and analyse economic and financial market indicators, and undertake forecast. Carry out research work, including literature reviews as well as data collection and manipulation. Communicate the research view to stakeholders as required. Assist with internal and external economic queries.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, or related 
  • A relevant Master’s Degree will be advantageous

Additional Information

Experience: 

  • 3-5 years experience in Economic research, statistics, quantitative analysis and modelling.
  • Understanding of financial or economics or scenarios models and the ability to utilise modelling software packages. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research into the Namibian economic and business environment with particular emphasis on the banking sector in the country, in order to provide thematic reports, regular economic updates and data releases for business information and decision-making purposes.
  • Liaise with national and international statistical agencies and central banks or multilateral institutions, to obtain data not easily available in the public domain but required for business purposes.
  • Maintain and keep relevant existing databases and develop new databases and chart packs with information required for business decision-making.
  • Monitor and produce reports on high frequency data and notable events like monetary policy meetings and the presentation of budgets, evaluating the progress of the balance of payments, fiscal balances, exchange rates, economic growth, inflation, and interest rates etc.
  • Produce relevant insights and intelligence on developments within key existing or potential markets, sectors and segments of the Bank and conduct ad hoc research when requested by various Business units in the Group and external clients if required.
