Job Description

Responsible and accountable for the SIL Personal Lines product offering in respect of:
Leadership: To provide strategic, operational, and tactical leadership in growing income and profitability of the Direct and 3rd Party Personal lines Portfolio
Direct and 3rd Party Portfolio strategy formulation and execution to drive growth and profitability
Product Management: End-to-end product cycle management (including product development, research and thought leadership)
Underwriting Governance and profitability management
Strategic and operational stakeholder engagements
Channel management and oversight (internal broker/bank and 3rd party channels/partnerships) including business process oversight of mandated 3rd parties (binder and outsourced functions)
Providing input into SIL reinsurance renewal planning and preparations
Providing input into the marketing of Standard Bank Insurance products and product awareness
Reporting: Preparation of budgets, business updates, SIL Board and other committee reports
Oversight of value-added services including non-regulated services

Qualifications

Qualification required:
Business Degree
An Insurance qualification accreditation (AIISA/ACII/FIISA/FCII)
KI Readiness Requirements (Must be ready to be appointed a KI if needed)
 

Knowledge:
Knowledge of  Personal Lines short term insurance products
Knowledge of regulatory, and compliance requirements for short-term insurance 
Knowledge of short-term insurance value chain and related ecosystems.
General knowledge of the economic environment.

Experience:
Min 5 years’ experience in a similar managerial role in the short-term insurance industry (specifically in product management with exposure to prior experience in the above key responsibilities)
