Job Description
The Compliance Governance and Reporting (CGR) team manages key components of Block’s Compliance Risk Management Framework and is part of Global Policy and Governance (GPG) within Block Compliance. The CGR team has responsibility for the following functions: Policy Governance, Risk Assessment, Compliance Training, Compliance Risk Management including Advisory, Third Party Risk Management, Issues Management, GRC tools, and Board Reporting.
As a Risk Assessment Lead within the CGR team, you will lead the team that provides end-to-end management (prepare, conduct and report) of periodic compliance risk assessments, defining and maintaining risk methodology, developing new or expanding current product risk assessments across all Block markets. This role will work closely with other members of the CGR team and broader the GPG organization. You will also work with other Compliance teams to promote program adoption as part of the broader Compliance Risk Management framework.
You will:
Lead Risk Assessment teams responsible for managing annual and product risk assessments for domestic and international products and services
Own the Risk Assessment Program, identifying and acting on opportunities to drive increased effectiveness, promote efficiencies, and support program adoption as the program continues to mature and scale.
Guide the team on executing the risk assessment life cycle, including identifying key risks, assessing risks and controls, calculating residual risk, identifying areas for improvement, and working with control owners on any necessary remediation plans
Manage escalations and support the team in overcoming obstacles and executing against program objectives
Work with legal teams in the research and assessment of relevant laws and regulations and work with GPG, Product Compliance Managers (PCMs), and Legal to provide regulatory guidance and interpretation
Analyze complex compliance risk topics and tailor to leadership audiences such as boards of directors, executives, and senior managers
Implement excellent record keeping practices to be adopted throughout the organization
Document end-to-end risk assessment processes in a sustainable and scalable manner
Help identify compliance risk issues and provide input to the design of relevant policies, programs, procedures, and other controls.
Qualifications
You have:
8 or more years in Compliance and/or Risk Management with experience in developing, managing, and scaling end-to-end risk assessment programs within a regulated financial services environment
3 or more years of people management experience
Experience in the following subject-matter areas: BSA/AML/sanctions, consumer lending, consumer protection, payments
Experience with global compliance requirements and programs across geographies
Experience in coaching, motivating and developing teams
Experience identifying quantitative risk metrics, working cross-functionally to acquire underlying data, and applying it to risk assessment activities in a meaningful way
Experienced in synthesizing complex data to prepare executive level reporting to be consumed by a wide range of audiences including regulators and senior management
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, with attention to detail
Ability to collaborate, communicate, and problem-solve issues with team members of all levels, and cross-functional partners across various lines of business as well as senior management
The tenacity to deliver results proactively, resourcefully, and methodically, in addition to having the ability to develop and deliver effective solutions
Even better:
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CAMS, CRCM, CFE)
- Domain expertise in data analytics and visualization platforms
- Experience with international compliance requirements and programs

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $184,100 - USD $225,000
Zone B: USD $171,200 - USD $209,200
Zone C: USD $162,000 - USD $198,000
Zone D: USD $152,700 - USD $186,700
