The Square for Restaurants team within Square empowers Food & Drink businesses of all kinds to start, run, and grow their businesses through advanced workflows, specialized products, and business insights specific to them, while also leveraging Square's broader ecosystem.

As the GM for Square for Restaurants, you will be responsible for the portion of Square’s business focused on Food & Drink. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, overseeing every aspect of the product development lifecycle, and its associated Go To Market. You will need strategic thinking and methodical execution as you grow the business, and oversee the details of the solution from deep in the stack through to the end-user experience. You will also work alongside Square’s leadership team to support and shape Square’s platform-powered ecosystem strategy.

Job Description

You Will:

  • Lead an organization of engineering, product management, product marketing, design, partnerships and insights to help them do their best work.
  • Set the vision for the Square for Restaurants ecosystem.
  • Guide product strategy to maximize impact for our customers and Square's business.
  • Work with Customer Success, Sales, and Partnerships to refine how we collaborate.
  • Partner with go-to-market functions to align roadmaps and processes.
  • Help shape our product development process as we continue to grow.
  • Foster an environment that enables the team to execute quickly while maintaining a high standard of quality.

Qualifications

You Have:

  • Industry or Food and Beverage technology domain experience.
    • Experience working in the F&B industry, whether as a restaurant owner, or part of a restaurant group, working at a technology company building products or services for the F&B domain.
    • Be a fierce advocate for restaurants and humbly serving our Food & Beverage Sellers.
    • 15+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 12+ years with a Master's degree; or equivalent education and experience.
  • Product Development Experience. 
    • Have been part of the product creation experience, whether from an Engineering role, or Product role, or Design role – or some combination.
    • Experience delivering remarkable product features through the full lifecycle: from conception, to product/market fit, through growth, to eventual maintenance or deprecation.
  • GTM Experience.
    • A collaborative approach with experience positively partnering with partner teams.
    • Experience shipping elegant B2B/B2B2C products and tools to market and growing them.
    • Ability to navigate and hold relationships in a competitive market.
  • People Management Experience.
    • Experience having built teams of people.
    • Leadership at scale and ability to affect change at all levels and disciplines; inclusive of leading managers of managers.
    • You will be an inspirational, mindful and inclusive leader.
    • Experience holding teams accountable to their discipline and collaboration to understand the value of each discipline within the team (engineering, product manager, design, product marketing and data analytics teams).
    • 8+ years of management experience within R&D or industry.
  • Business Experience. 
    • This is experience having operated and optimized a non-trivial budget or P&L.

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $326,300 - USD $398,800
Zone B: USD $326,300 - USD $398,800
Zone C: USD $326,300 - USD $398,800
Zone D: USD $326,300 - USD $398,800

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a commission plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
