Job Description
As Strategic Partner Manager, this individual is responsible for executing the strategy and roadmap for existing partnerships, maximizing existing partner enablement strategies, and managing the sales and account management aspects of partners. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the economics of the payments space and deep knowledge of the payments ecosystem. This individual should also have an understanding of what will be needed to properly resource a partner strategy, and work with stakeholders to develop a plan for ensuring the success of a partner. A deep sense of ownership, drive, and entrepreneurship is essential.
The purpose of the role is to develop, lead, and own the overall partner strategy and business results for Afterpay in North America, owning core activities such as the following:
- Evaluate new partners, markets and growth opportunities
- Deepen and expand existing partnerships
- Structure, negotiate and execute deals with platforms and payment companies
- Drive Afterpay and Cash App Pay’s growth objectives through relentless focus on key metrics and partner strategy execution
- Work with teams including Product, Sales, Marketing and others to launch and manage partnership programs and develop Afterpay and Cash App’s partner ecosystem
- Cultivate executive relationships with partners, optimize their performance and identify additional business opportunities to expand revenues
- Build a pipeline of potential partnerships and initiate contact and negotiations with decision makers within those companies
- Report on partner program results on a regular cadence to all key stakeholders
- Act as a trusted point of contact for all partnership inquiries by demonstrating a deep understanding of partner’s business drivers, challenges, and offer solutions that drive mutual positive business outcomes
Qualifications
- Successful track record of developing, establishing, and closing strategic partnerships
- Extensive understanding of industry trends and the key players in the competitive landscape
- Results oriented with strong communication, and relationship management skills
- 8+ years of business development or partnership experience in ecommerce, platforms or payments
- Bachelor’s Degree, MBA preferred
- Positive attitude and willingness to roll up sleeves and dig deep to achieve goals
- Strong analytical skills and ability to turn data analysis into strategic insights in order to drive the partner program strategy
- Preferred: Previous partnerships experience working with developer agencies, open source platforms and large solution providers such as Salesforce and Adobe/Magento
