BizOps Strategy Manager

  • Full-time

Company Description

It all started with an idea at Block in 2013. Initially built to take the pain out of peer-to-peer payments, Cash App has gone from a simple product with a single purpose to a dynamic ecosystem, developing unique financial products, including Afterpay, to provide a better way to send, spend, invest, borrow and save to our 47 million monthly active customers. We want to redefine the world’s relationship with money to make it more relatable, instantly available, and universally accessible. This is our mission, and it’s why working at Cash App means so much more than a job.

Today, Cash App has thousands of employees working globally across office and remote locations, with a culture geared toward innovation, collaboration and impact. We’ve been a distributed team since day one, and many of our roles can be done remotely from the countries where Cash App operates. No matter the location, we tailor our experience to ensure our employees are creative, productive, and happy.

Job Description

BizOps is short for “Business Operations”. Akin to how a Sales Operations team or Supply Chain Operations team exist to improve the performance of their associated team, BizOps works horizontally to improve the performance of the Cash App business as a whole.

BizOps engagements are referred to within Cash App as “special projects”. Special projects are temporary, high-impact engagements sponsored by Cash Leadership. BizOps will often step into these projects when there is unclear or insufficient resourcing from dedicated teams.

In these cases, BizOps can act as immediate resourcing to realize value on perishable opportunities or triage risk. In cases of short-term relevance where no immediate additional work is needed following BizOps’s engagement, the team can roll off having prevented the organizational thrash that would have been required to deal with it. In cases where there is a perpetual need for resourcing, BizOps can plug the short term gap while a long-term, sustainable solution is installed.

Example projects in the past have included:

  • Proposing organizational design and operating models for new teams at Cash App
  • Designing metrics frameworks and piloting reporting infrastructure to track priority initiatives
  • Analyzing and sizing the impact of proposed changes on our financial metrics

Role Description

In order to scale our ability to take on more projects, we’re looking to hire an outstanding BizOps Strategy Manager who will be a senior IC on the team. Given the broad range of projects BizOps is tasked to take on, successful team members usually are equipped with a multidisciplinary skillset and operate with “wide but shallow” subject matter expertise.

You will:

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of large-scoped, cross-functional projects from the analysis and research stage through implementation and execution all the way to transition and go-forward planning.
  • Create leverage for our C-suite executives serving as a swiss-army knife for business critical tasks that lack a clear owner within the existing Cash App organization.
  • Partner with leaders across the Cash App org to come up with solutions to complex problems and do whatever is needed to successfully implement siad solutions.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in fast-paced and analytical roles in growth, analytics, business operations, management consulting, or finance; preferably with experience at a high-growth tech company.
  • Track-record of ownership of and profit impact-orientation.
  • High degree of comfort with ambiguity, and a knack for quickly ramping on new skills and functions. You’ve built products, teams, and/or processes from scratch.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. You can frame and distill complex information appropriately for different audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with people outside your immediate team and get things done through influence rather than authority.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities, including experience with business modeling and statistical tests.
  • Experience with SQL and data visualization tools (Snowflake and Tableau) preferred.
