Job Description
The Compliance Governance and Reporting (CGR) team manages key components of Block's Compliance Risk Management Framework and is part of Global Policy and Governance (GPG) within Block Compliance. With a focus on Block's Compliance Risk Management Framework, the CGR team has responsibility for the following functions: Policy Governance, Training, Compliance Risk Management including Advisory, Issues Management and Reporting. As part of Block's overarching Compliance Risk Framework the team manages Block's GRC tooling, systems and procedures.
As the Head of CGR, you will oversee this overall function and report to the Head of Global Policy and Governance. With your partners you will develop CGR strategy, planning and plan execution across Block on a global scale. On a broader level, you will help communicate Block's Compliance, Vision, Mission and Operating Model, working with other compliance and counsel personnel to guide the Compliance Program forward. Outcomes of your work will be evident through awareness, comprehension and adoption to the standards established under your remit.
You Will:
- Develop and implement the Block's Compliance Risk Management Framework.
- Lead CGR teams responsible for managing the various functions it carries out, supporting high degrees of collaboration, engagement, teamwork, personal career growth.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the value and services that CGR offers, simultaneously enhancing awareness and adoption of the standards the team develops across Block and all countries in which it operates
- Exploit and leverage data led techniques to support, innovate and scale how CGR operates
- Work with legal teams in the research and assessment of relevant laws and regulations and work with GPG, Product Compliance Managers together with the Business, and Legal to provide regulatory guidance and interpretation
- Additionally, as a Compliance Risk Management expert, you will advise and communicate complex legal and regulatory concepts in an audience-appropriate manner
- Provide advice for designing policies, programs, procedures, and other controls.
- Lead and contribute to special projects with importance to Block's compliance program.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in compliance risk management in a regulated financial services environment
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Applied risk management concepts (e.g. COSO, three lines of defense)
- Understand and work with data analytics teams to develop analytics based stories consumable to a broad range of audiences, including Board members
- Expertise in several of the following subject-matter areas: BSA/AML/sanctions, consumer lending, consumer protection, or payments
- Experience with international compliance requirements and programs
- Experience developing end-to-end compliance risk management programs
- Experience in coaching, motivating and developing teams
Even Better:
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CAMS, CRCM, CFE)
- Deep domain expertise in data analytics and visualization platforms
- Industry experience working in consultancy practice, development of tools/systems to support scale and efficiency across enterprise risk or compliance risk management domains
- Implementation experience with GRC tools (e.g. RSA Archer, SAI Global, Protecht) in large complex organizations.
Additional Information
Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300
Zone B: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300
Zone C: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300
Zone D: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
