The Square Point of Sale mobile applications are the main entry point through which merchants work with Square. Within Point of Sale (POS), we have the XPOS team that is focused on increasing both product and technical convergence across our POS apps. 

The XPOS Core team builds core features such as settings, navigation, and Sales Reports that our merchants work with many times a day. As a Full-stack Software Engineer on the team, you will report to the engineering lead and work with us on our dashboard product and building APIs to support features within our mobile applications.

In this role, you will…

• Leverage your expertise in front-end and back-end technologies to partner with and empower a full-stack group of engineers building solutions together that meet our merchants’ challenges;
• Guide the architecture of our front-end systems to ensure quick and stable feature development;
• Develop engineering designs and implementations of impactful end-user product features;
• Help the team iterate on existing / establish new engineering patterns and processes to ensure an efficient development cycle;
• Work with product managers and designers to define and refine product scope and design.

You have:

• Excellent software engineering aptitude and a product mindset;
• 8+ years professional experience working on web applications;
• A desire to build beautiful, intuitive, and well-structured web applications, drawing on proficiency with HTML, CSS, and ES6;.
• Experience working with front-end UI frameworks (Ember, React, Vue) and back-end systems in Java, Go, or Ruby;
• A sense of customer empathy and an interest in influencing the product direction;
• Interest in working with other engineering teams and cross functional partners;
• Desire to foster an environment of learning and growth within your team
