Square Financial Services, Inc. ("SFS") was approved for an industrial bank charter by the Utah Department of Financial Services ("UDFI") and deposit insurance from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation ("FDIC") in March 2020. The Bank opened in March 2021 as a Utah corporation and has since been delivering on Block's mission of economic empowerment by helping small business owners and underserved communities across the United States.
SFS launched a search for an SFS Accountant, who will report to an Accounting lead. You will be responsible for account reconciliations, including accounting and financial oversight to ensure financial records are complete and accurate.
You will:
- Prepare journal entries and month end account reconciliations
- Aid in conducting the month end close process for SFS including commentary and flux analysis
- Provide updates on account reconciliations and aged items
- Participate in the preparation of regulatory filings including Audited Standalone financial statements and quarterly Call Report
- Address inquiries related to Bank financials and board reports
- Maintain documentation to support compliance with SOX and regulatory requirements
- Implement enhancements and improvements to processes
- Aid the Bank with statutory audits by facilitating requests from internal and external auditors as well as bank regulators
- Partner with Square's Accounting, Procurement, Finance & Strategy, Tax, Counsel and Treasury teams to ensure the Bank's operational needs are met
- Prepare documentation of controls to ensure compliance with internal control environment
- Partner with Product, Finance & Strategy, Tax, Counsel and Treasury teams to ensure that SFS's operational needs are met
Qualifications
You have:
- 2+ years of related work experience in accounting and finance; bank-specific accounting and regulatory experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- A process-driven approach to your work complemented by curiosity
- Experience managing a variety of projects simultaneously
- A genuine desire to work in a collaborative team environment
- A passion for Block's mission: economic empowerment
Additional Information
Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $94,400 - USD $115,400
Zone B: USD $87,800 - USD $107,400
Zone C: USD $80,300 - USD $98,100
Zone D: USD $70,800 - USD $86,600

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
